Best plastic water bottles for kids
BPA free plastic bottles
Reduce, reuse, recycle - these are the ways my family and I have been trying to be "green". For a few years now, we have been recycling all paper, glass, plastic, and cans. This year, we decided it was time to give up the convenience of bottled spring water we used when on the go. But the plastic water bottles we owned were hard to clean, leaked, were made out of questionable quality plastic, or had some other flaws. A couple months ago, I found these great BPA free plastic water bottles made by Reduce - they are convenient, reusable, easy to clean, and they even come with a space-saving fridge tray that helps you keep the bottles organized. And for the price of under $3.50 a bottle, these bottles are a real bargain. These bottles are the best plastic water bottles for kids (and adults) - they fit really well in kids lunch bags and car cup holders. Also, I am very happy that the design printed on the bottles hasn't washed off, and the bottles show little to know signs of wear, even though we use them frequently.
10 ounce plastic water bottles for kids - Girls and Boys sets
I have so many good things to say about WaterWeek water bottles by Reduce.
Most importantly, they are BPA free. Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical frequently used to make plastics. BPA can leak into food and water and that may lead to a number of adverse health effects.
The 10 ounce water bottles are just the right size for kids lunch bags. The bottles are right around 6 inches tall and are perfect for carrying water, juice, and milk to school. Also, the bottle neck is relatively wide, making it easy to pour liquids without spilling. I couldn't find a manufacturer recommendation to use the bottles for milk, although they do mention that you can "Save money by filling (the bottles) with bulk juices for kids lunch boxes," so I Emailed Reduce with this question: "Is there any reason why you can't use the plastic bottles for milk?" And here's what they had to say: "You can definitely use the Reduce water bottles for milk...The only issue, is that if the milk dries, it may be a tad bit harder to clean. However, using a baby bottle brush should help resolve that issue."
The bottles are very reasonably priced - $15 for a 5-pack is a great deal considering that you may pay as much for just one water bottle. And there are quite a few different kid-friendly designs to choose from.
The bottles are also dishwasher safe, they are phthalate and lead free, and are very eco-friendly.

16 ounce WaterWeek water bottles
Reduce also makes 16 ounce bottles that are more suitable for older kids and adults. And if you happen to be an alumni or a student at the University of Arizona, NC State, Penn State, The University of South Carolina, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech, or the University of Wisconsin, you will be pleased to find water bottles with logos of your favorite school.
If you prefer aluminum sports bottles, Reduce makes them too. Just like the Reduce plastic bottle sets, Aluminum 16 ounce water bottles come in a 5 pack and with a fridge tray.
With reusable water bottles, you can reduce your carbon footprint and save money. Are you in?

Best water filtering dispenser
After reading multiple articles and reports about tap water contaminants and coming to a conclusion that our refrigerator's water filter may not be doing such a good job of getting rid of harmful substances commonly found in tap water, I decided it was time to find a new water filtering solution.

How to keep milk cold in a lunch box
You may be concerned about keeping milk and juice cold for 4-5 hours between the time you pack your child's lunch and the actual lunch time. Here are a few recommendations for you. I would suggest to stay away from non-insulated lunch bags. Crocodile Creek brand is one of the best when it comes to conforming to or exceeding U.S. and European safety standards. I recommend insulated lunchboxes with zippered closure. I really like the lunch sacks like the Hello Kitty lunch sack below - the front flap folds down and can be used as a place mat. Also, you may want to check out the insulation technology overview fact sheet posted as one of the product photos for Hello Kitty lunch sack - it states that double wall foam insulation keeps foods cold for up to 6 hours and hot for up to 3 hours.
Be sure to remember to include an ice pack in the lunch bag as well - see our top picks below. And, finally, if you would rather play it safe when it comes to keeping foods cold, hot, or fresh longer - you will appreciate the Thermos containers - a trusted choice of many parents who pack their kids lunches.
