New Big Brother Gift Ideas
Big Brothers are important
My friend's son is a new Big Brother, and he is so excited about his new role! His Mom planned well for the baby's arrival and started looking for new big brother gift ideas at least 4 months before the baby's due date. Over the four months, she built up a small collection of toys to keep on hand as small gifts to reward good Big Brother behavior.
Little sister was showered with gifts at her polka dot baby shower and got just about everything she needed and more. I would not say that the Big Bro was feeling left out, but he was very happy to open a Big Brother to Be gift his thoughtful grandparents gave him on the day of the baby shower.
Small gifts not only help the new Big brother feel more included and get him more excited about the arrival of a new family member, but they also can keep him occupied when Mom or Dad need to attend to the baby. A Big Brother shirt and a few books are good to give, but, truth is, little boys do get a lot more excited about Toys they receive as new Big Brother gifts.

How old is your baby's Big Brother?
How to prepare your older child for the changes that come with baby's arrival
A new baby does require a lot of attention, so it is a good idea to remind the big brother that he is still very important too. The arrival of a new sibling is a very anticipated event, but it shifts the world of the older child - something that he may not be completely prepared for. That's why Moms-to-be are encouraged to prepare the older sibling for changes in daily routine by reading books about babies and their relationships with older brothers and sisters.
Good books about Big brothers and new baby
Books about Big Brother and Little sister or Little brother relationships are perfect for preparing little boys for the arrival of new sibling. My friend had a couple of these books on hand - they are a good read and help create a good discussion of what it is like to have a new baby at home. Please note that "Babies don't eat pizza" book featured here is for older children - at least 5-6 years old and up. It answers some of the questions older boys may have about babies. Although the book may be a good choice for boys who are too old for toddler books, please note that it does have some content you may not ready to expose your child to, like breastfeeding or how baby comes out through an opening between legs or a cut on the tummy.
The coolest big brother gift
"Big Brother" doctor scrubs - the perfect outfit for toddler to wear to the hospital to meet the new baby. I really wanted to get this for my friend's little boy but I couldn't find the scrubs in his size :(
Big Brother T-shirts - and Big Brother Little Brother - Big Brother Little Sister outfits
"Big Brother" T-shirts and "I Love my Big Brother" onesies are cool. They draw attention to the older sibling and encourage people to start a conversation about your child's new role. The Big brother - little sibling shirts are great for taking pictures to share with friends and maybe even include on birth announcements. Some parents use the T-shirts as a hint when announcing the pregnancy news to the older sibling.
Great New Big Brother gift idea - for a toddler or preschooler
This junior racer set is similar to the gift my friend's in-laws got for her son. What a great way to occupy a toddler or preschooler.
"Sometimes being a Big Brother is even better than being a Super Hero" wall quote
True that! A good quote to live by :)
