The Outer Banks of North Carolina (OBX) is a 200 mile string of islands located off the NC coast. Wright Memorial Bridge connects the Currituck Mainland to Southern Shores, and it is the bridge most New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia visitors use to get to the Outer Banks. For travelers arriving from the West, there's the new Virginia Dare Memorial Bridge that connects the mainland to Nags Head - Manteo Causeway or William B. Umstead Bridge (locally known as "Manns Harbor Bridge") for Roanoke Island visitors. Outer Banks is a very popular travel destination that attracts millions of visitors per year, with most visitors traveling between Memorial and Labor Day.
